Ekiti to maintain PDP post-primaries unity

The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, said the ruling party was committed to maintaining unity regardless of the outcome of the primary poll to elect a candidate for the upcoming Governorship elections.

"One can see how we were received at the National Secretariat of the party. Ours is to mobilise the people of the state for the party, that is the wining party, the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). To us PDP is first and we are second, whoever wins the primary election among us, we would take it in good faith and we would ensure that the party wins the governorship election in the state," said Fayose.

He spoke on Thursday after picking his nomination forms.

More than 30 former Local Government Chairmen from the State, former National Financial Secretary of the party, Toye Olofintuyi, member of Board of Trustee (BOT) of the party, Clement Awoyemi, and all former members of the State House of Assembly accompanied the favourite.

The National Organising Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Mustafa, said the party will not impose any candidate for the state.

He said the primary election would be free and fair. He urged all the aspirants to cooperate with any of the aspirant that emerges as the party candidate.
