The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDPGF),
Chief Godswill Akpabio, has assured Nigerians of total victory for the
party in 2015 general election if the PDP faithful in Imo State are
united.
Akpabio, who stated this at the weekend, at the PDP sensitisation rally
held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, to receive defectors from the
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to PDP, hinted that the party did
not lose election in 2007 elections but lost calculation, promising of
total victory for the party in 2015.
The PDPGF chairman, who is also Akwa Ibom State governor opined that
for total victory for the PDP, the party would live in unity and
contribute to the development of Imo State by being good supporters of
noble cause provided by the party to change the fortune of the state.
He stated that the party had already realised its mistake of the past and determined to ensure PDP is returned to the state in the future.

On his part, a former governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa, said
his decision to return to PDP was necessitated by the wishes of his
supporters, and promised to deliver the state to PDP at all levels in
the 2015 general election.
The National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, said the
return of founding members of PDP in the state was a clear testimony of a
new dawn in the political sphere of the party.

Those who returned to PDP were Udenwa, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Christy Anyanwu and Chief Mike Ahamba, among others.
In the same vein, President Goodluck Jonathan has described the PDP as the hub which democracy in Nigeria revolves.

Jonathan, who stated this at the rally, noted: “There would be no
democracy in Nigeria without the PDP party is the only political party
in Nigeria that follows democratic principles and the rule of law. It is
the only party that can unite this country.”
Jonathan further described PDP as the only political party in Nigeria
with consistent policies and principles, saying: “Since we started PDP
in 1999; the name has not changed, the logo has not changed and or
slogan has not changed. We are here because some of us who for one
reason or the other stepped aside have stepped back to the party. Today,
we are witnessing the unity of PDP and the party will now be strong as
it was in 1999. Imo State has been a PDP State and will continue to be
PDP,” he maintained.
The event was attended by leaders of PDP, including the Senate
President, Senator David Mark; Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike
Ekweremadu, Chief Tony Anenih, Chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT) of
PDP and some PDP governors.
