The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, on Wednesday offered to assist
the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with electronic
ballot boxes for the conduct of the 2015 polls.
The Rector, Prof.
Oludele Itiola, made the pledge at the matriculation of 5 000 new
students for the 2013/2014 academic session in Abeokuta.
Itiola
said the school lacked the financial strength to produce a large
quantity of such boxes, but would not hesitate to collaborate with the
commission if offered the opportunity.
He advised the new
students to shun all forms of social vices, saying that plans were on
the way to provide conducive hostel accommodation for students.
He
admonished the students to be job providers and not job seekers at the
successful completion of their courses in the institution.
The rector said that the polytechnic was in need of more lecture rooms and new academic staff.
He
also said that the polytechnic's library would be rehabilitated to meet
world standard to assist students in their academic pursuit.
The
rector commended the state government for providing the school with
regular subvention as at when due, saying that it had assisted in the
development of the school.
