His words: No child should be brought into this world by force, if a lady has been raped, it is left for her to make a decision of whether to keep the baby or not. If you have never been raped or someone close to you haven't, you may not agree with this statement. It is never mentioned anywhere in the bible, to keep a child from a woman who was raped!

But her private life had been crumbling ever since a letter from the Child Support Agency arrived at the home she shared with husband Brian and their three children.
It was a request for maintenance from a woman who claimed she’d had conceived a child with Brian less than a year after he married Smith.
At Bannockburn High, she tried to hide the escalating turmoil in her relationship as more details of her husband’s deceit emerged.

Considering the age bracket between you and your ex, it’s widely believed that you dated him because of his money. How will you react to this?
Love has nothing to do with age, especially when it comes to true love. But we really don’t have true love here in Nigeria. A lot of women go for fancy things. Even the first man in my life was 30 years old when I was 20. He was 10 years older. That was how I started my life. I have never dated my mates or younger men.

“Why do you want to see her? You bought this so what?” he said.
He then said: “We just buy these things from China. lt is not up to us to check what is in them,” he said.

Lagos to destroy more defective masts

Lagos - The Lagos State Urban Furniture Regulatory Unit (UFRU) announced plans to pull down more defective telecommunications masts.

The agency has lifted a suspension of its earlier demolition exercise.

The agency had last year instructed banks, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), insurance companies and other firms to immediately replace old hollow pipe telecoms masts in the state and replace them with galvanised steel masts.

It noted that the order was given following the incessant collapse of the old masts in the state at the slightest wind storm, leading to deaths and destruction of properties.

As at the December deadline issued to the mast owners, none complied with the directive prompting the agency to commence massive pulling down of such mast across the state.

The exercise was however halted following appeals by several stakeholders for more time.

Omotola Ekeinde -I Dont Believe In Gender Equality

How can a woman have a successful marriage?
Omotola: I don’t believe in gender equality. I do not believe that God made man and woman to be equal in any way. I believe that in every organised institution, there is always a head and an assistant.

It doesn’t mean that one should take the other for granted, or disrespect the other. I believe the husband is the head of the home and the wife is an assistant. My husband is a pilot, I have flown with him several times and I understood that here is a captain and a co-pilot. They are both responsible for the passengers’ lives. But when there is a final decision to make, it is up to the captain to make it. He is more experienced and the one with the responsibility. But any mature captain will not ignore his co-pilot because the co-pilot is not a cabin attendant. He is there for a reason. It just depends on how you understand and play your roles.

Ellen's Oscars selfie crashes Twitter

Ellen DeGeneres' goal of setting a retweet record with her star-studded selfie was achieved before the Oscars telecast was even over.
During a comic bit, the Oscars host prevailed upon actor Bradley Cooper to take a picture with her and several other stars crowding around, including Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Kevin Spacey, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Long before midnight Sunday, the photo had been retweeted more than 2 million times, breaking a record set by President Barack Obama with the picture of him hugging First Lady Michelle Obama after his re-election in 2012.
Twitter also sent out an apology because all the retweeting disrupted service for more than 20 minutes.

Wenger laments Stoke loss

Stoke-on-Trent - Arsene Wenger has conceded Arsenal's stuttering Premier League title bid had suffered a "major setback" after they lost ground at the top with a shock 1-0 defeat at Stoke.
Jon Walters' second-half penalty handed Stoke a famous win at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday and left the Gunners four points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea in third place.
The north Londoners have now won just once in their last eight trips to Stoke and Wenger admitted it was the worst possible start to what he had branded a season-defining month.
"It is not slightly worrying, it is a big worry for us to lose a game like that. It's a massive setback," Wenger said.
"In a game like that, we didn't produce the performance we wanted. To win a title when you are expected to perform you have to perform. It's as simple as that."
Although it was Mark Hughes, as opposed to predecessor Tony Pulis in the Potters' home dugout, the game retained the same feisty edge so memorable from these teams' recent meetings.
Glenn Whelan and Charlie Adam both escaped without sanction from referee Mike Jones despite controversial challenges on Olivier Giroud, much to the French striker's frustration.
"I have nothing to say about that. I am long enough in the game to make my own judgement," Wenger said.

G7 leaders condemn Russia over Ukraine

 (File, AFP)

The leaders of the world's top industrialised powers turned on fellow G8 member Russia on Sunday, condemning its "clear" violation of Ukraine's sovereignty.

Symbolically billing themselves as the "G7," the leaders said in a statement that Russia's actions were incompatible with the Group of Eight Nations, which Moscow joined in 1997 and said they would not take part in preparatory talks for June's G8 summit in Sochi, Russia.

The statement, signed by the leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States and the presidents of the European Council and European Commission, was released by the White House.

The leaders said they joined together to "condemn the Russian Federation's clear violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, in contravention of Russia's obligations under the UN Charter and its 1997 basing agreement with Ukraine."

"We call on Russia to address any ongoing security or human rights concerns that it has with Ukraine through direct negotiations, and/or via international observation or mediation under the auspices of the UN or the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe."

The statement called on all parties to "behave with the greatest extent of self-restraint and responsibility, and to decrease the tensions."

The leaders also said that Russia's actions in sending troops into Crimea contravened the principles on which the G7 and the G8 grouping operates.

"As such, we have decided for the time being to suspend our participation in activities associated with the preparation of the scheduled G8 Summit in Sochi in June, until the environment comes back where the G8 is able to have meaningful discussion.

"We are united in supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its right to choose its own future," the statement said, vowing support for Ukraine's stability and political and economic well-being.

The statement also expressed support for the interim government in Kiev's efforts to negotiate a deal with the International Monetary Fund to stave off an economic crisis.

Although Russia has been a fully fledged member of the G8 since it joined in 1997, the G7 grouping continues to convene when the discussion is limited to economic and financial issues.

Egypt: New premier urges end to protests

Cairo - Egypt's new prime minister has urged a halt to all protests and strikes to give the nation a breather to rebuild after more than three years of deadly turmoil.
Ibrahim Mehlib made his appeal in an address televised live on Sunday, his first full day on the job after he and members of his cabinet were sworn in on the previous day.
Mehlib was named prime minister last week following the surprise resignation of his predecessor, Hazem el-Beblawi, after seven months in office.
The former government faced a wave of strikes and protests that officials said undercut the economy.
"The time for work and productivity has come and no voice must be louder than the voice of construction and development," said Mehlib, a former housing minister and a construction executive.

Presidency faults APC's purported poll

The Presidency on Sunday faulted a purported poll carried out by the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as “nothing but a great exercise in quackery.”

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, was reacting to a statement issued by the party with regards to the plan to unveil its manifesto on Thursday based on the poll.

Abati told State House correspondents that the statement issued by the party National Publicity Secretary, Lai Muhammed, on the premise of unveiling the manifesto base on the result of the poll was “dubious and suspicious”.

“While we share the view that the APC has the view to unveil its manifesto because nobody really knows what the party stands for.”

“Nigerians are curious to have a properly articulated position of the APC rather than its inarticulate engagement with Nigerian public.”

“But the basis on which the APC is trying to unveil the manifesto is dubious and suspicious.”

At least 74 dead in Boko Haram violence in Borno

At least 74 people were killed in attacks blamed on Boko Haram militants this weekend, taking the overall death toll this year beyond 300, with no apparent end in sight to the carnage.
Nearly 250 people had lost their lives since the turn of the year, even before the latest attacks, which saw twin blasts rip through the capital of Borno state, Maiduguri and heavily armed gunmen then open fire on a nearby village.
The attacks will likely renew fears that Nigeria is struggling to contain the Islamist insurgency and the perception that militant fighters are able to roam the northeast with impunity, attacking at will.
At least 35 people were killed in the crowded Gomari district of Maiduguri, many of them food vendors and children hawking goods, as locals prepared for evening prayers on Saturday.
"We are still counting. So far we have counted 35 bodies. Our men are still working with rescue workers at the scene," Borno state police commissioner Lawal Tanko told AFP.
Witnesses said the final death toll could rise and as many as 50 people may have been killed and dozens of homes razed in the blasts.
Less than an hour later, gunmen dressed in military fatigues and armed with powerful assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenades and explosives laid siege to the village of Mainok 50 kilometres (30 miles) away, killing 39.
Separately, there were claims that 20 people were mistakenly killed in the village of Daglun, also in Borno state, during bombardment by airforce jets of suspected militants but the military denied the claim.

Female student slaughtered in hostel by jealous boyfriend

A female student at the College of Education, Waka-Biu, in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State was on Friday night slaughtered in her school dormitory by two young men, one suspected to be a jealous boyfriend.

Though the name of the dead victim is yet to be ascertained, sources in Biu said the girl was trailed to her dormitory and attacked by the two young men who slit her throat.

According to an official of the local government council, who pleaded anonymity, the two young men were however arrested by the security operatives in the school after other students raised alarm.

“The two assailants were not from Biu Local Government Area; they come from somewhere and followed the girl to the hostel and slaughtered her. I believe they may have some issue concerning relationship with her if not they would not have singled her out for killing”, said the source.

“It was after the incident that the students raised alarm and mobilised the security operatives in the school to round up the two of them and later handed them over to the soldiers who took them to the barracks”, added the local government official.

Saudi women activists have petitioned the country’s consultative council to back a demand to curb the “absolute authority” of male guardians over women in the ultra-conservative Sunni Muslim kingdom, a signatory said.

Saudi Arabia imposes a strict interpretation of Islamic law, forbidding women to work or travel without the authorisation of their male guardians.

It is also the only country in the world that bans women from driving, and a woman cannot obtain an identification card without the consent of her guardian.

Activist Aziza Yousef told AFP that “rights activists have petitioned the Shura (consultative) Council on the occasion of the International Women’s Day (on March 8) demanding an end to the absolute authority of men over women”.

They demanded “measures to protect (women’s) rights,” in their petition to the Shura Council, she said.

Centenary Celebrations And The Souls Of The Slaughtered, By Femi Fani-Kayode

On February 26, 2014 one Mr. Adegoroye wrote: “Only an insane government will be celebrating centenary while the youths, women, children and citizens are being killed daily in cold blood. Rather than mourn the dead, we want to celebrate one hundred years of a failed state ruled by a failed and cursed generation. This country (Nigeria) needs more than just prayers if the government will be unable, for just twenty four hours, to protect the citizens. Who says we don’t have a war situation in Nigeria? Oh! Families of the pained and the dead should celebrate too? Why not invite them all to Abuja to come and dance and entertain you? Shame has only one definition – shame!”.

These are deep and powerful words and the rage, frustration and despair that fuels them reflects the thinking of many. Mr. Joseph Tobi Daniel drove home the point when, on the same day, he used his twitter handle to ask “what kind of leader focuses on a centenary celebration when the souls of slaughtered children are crying out for justice?”

Man City win 2014 Capital One Cup

Goals from Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri and Jesus Navas cancelled out Fabio Borini's outstanding early opener at Wembley

Manuel Pellegrini lifted his first major trophy with Manchester City after an enthralling 3-1 Capital One Cup final victory over Sunderland.

The Chilean was brought to the club with the remit of winning silverware and, though City were behind at the break, he duly delivered at Wembley on Sunday thanks to wonder goals from Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri, with Jesus Navas adding the third late on.

Gus Poyet's men played their part in an exhilarating contest and Fabio Borini's superb opener left City fans fearing more Wembley disappointment following the 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic in May's FA Cup final.

But, ultimately, City lived up to the favourites tag to leave their hopes of a quadruple still on course, though they will have to overcome a 2-0 deficit against Barcelona in their Champions League tie.

Despite controlling the early tempo, City were given a warning when Jack Colback tapped home Borini's slide pass, but the whistle had long since gone for offside.

Boko Haram kill 39 in deadly village raid

Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members raided a village nort of Maiduguri as people were preparing for prayers, killing 39 people, local residents said Sunday.
Dozens of attackers dressed in military uniform stormed Mainok, almost 50 kilometres from Maiduguri, on Saturday, firing rocket propelled grenades and Kalashnikovs.
Twin blasts on Saturday also killed at least 35 in Maiduguri, a Boko Haram stronghold.
"They came in around 7:00 pm and opened fire indiscriminately with RPGs (rocket propelled grenades), explosives and AK-47 rifles," said resident Yahaya Umar.
"They killed 39 people who were buried this morning and destroyed the whole town," he said.
Another resident Abdullahi Gana gave a similar account of the incident.
"We were just lamenting the twin blasts in Maiduguri ... when the Boko Haram gunmen arrived and started firing volleys of RPGs and guns," he said.
Military and police authorities were not available for comment on the attack, the latest blamed on the Boko Haram Islamist group in the village.
The Islamists have repeatedly attacked Mainok in the past two years. In July, a separate raid killed 25 people.

Red Cross: 51 killed in Maiduguri car bombs

Twin car bomb blasts at a bustling marketplace killed at least 51 people in Maiduguri, a Red Cross official said Sunday.
Many more people are believed buried in rubble from the Saturday night explosions that collapsed some buildings and set others aflame with smoke billowing for hours, said the official, a resident who worked at the scene through the night but insisted on anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to reporters.
The victims include children dancing at a wedding celebration and people watching a soccer match at an outdoor cinema, survivors told The Associated Press on Sunday.
Fifty corpses were retrieved, said Hassan Ali, leader of an anti-terror vigilante group.
The first blast came from a pickup truck carrying firewood and did not cause many casualties, said Ali. Most of those killed had run to the scene to help when a second explosion blasted from a passenger car, he said.
Survivors said they captured a man who jumped out of the car, grabbed a tricycle taxi and tried to make off. He was badly beaten and taken to nearby Umaru Shehu General Hospital, where a security guard said all the wounded brought in had died. Most survivors insisted on anonymity for fear of reprisals.

Women like staring at boobs too

Here’s the surprise of the century: Men spend a lot of time checking out your boobs when they look at you. But did it occur to you that women do the same?

According to a new study published in the journal Sex Roles, researchers found both men and women spend more time looking at a woman’s breasts and her waist than her face, Women’s Health reports.

The researchers from University of Nebraska-Lincoln recruited 65 college students, 29 women and 36 men, and showed them 30 pictures of 10 different women while they monitored the movements of their eyes.

They found both men and women spend most time focusing on larger breasts, smaller waists and bigger hips.

This contradicts earlier studies where men reported they noticed the eyes first, but we knew all along they were lying, didn’t we?

Arsenal Fan Starts Crying And Walks Away From Interview After Stoke Game

After their shock 1-0 defeat to Stoke yesterday many Arsenal fans were understandably unhappy that their team had lost their grip on second place.
Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Southampton means Arsenal now sit in third place due to the Merseyside club’s greater goal difference and some Gooners failed to cope with the result at the Britannia.

During an interview with ArsenalFan TV’s YouTube channel one fan claimed how the game was “absolutely atrocious” and all Giroud was good for was having a “stupid little grin on his face”.
The fan then said how there was no desire and he has had enough before breaking down and walking away in tears.

Obama warns Putin over Ukraine action

US President Barack Obama told President Vladimir Putin on Saturday that Russia's dispatch of troops to Ukraine flouted international law and warned he was courting political isolation if the incursion continues.
Obama also spelled out the right of the Ukrainian people to chart their own destiny and symbolically began to line up the long-time Western alliance against Russia, calling the leaders of France and Canada.
US Secretary of State John Kerry also hosted a joint conference call with six other foreign ministers from Europe and Canada as well as EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and the Japanese envoy to the US "to co-ordinate on next steps."
Tense
Obama's 90-minute telephone call with Putin represented the kind of direct confrontation between the men who run the White House and the Kremlin rarely seen since the end of the Cold War.
The White House account of the call was unusually detailed and blunt, hinting at tense exchanges as fractures deepened in a relationship that has been deteriorating since Putin returned as president in 2012.
"President Obama expressed his deep concern over Russia's clear violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity," the White House said.
Obama told Putin his actions were a "breach of international law, including Russia's obligations under the UN Charter, and of its 1997 military basing agreement with Ukraine."
Kerry also warned in a later statement that Moscow was risking the peace and security not just of Ukraine, but also the wider region.
If Russia did not de-escalate tensions, it would have a "profound" effect on ties with the US, said Kerry, who is due to meet his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of talks in Rome next week.
Asked about the tone of the call, a senior US official resorted to diplomatic parlance indicating an uncomfortable conversation, describing it as "what you'd expect: candid and direct."

Drogba life story told in cartoon form

Didier Drogba walked at six months, left home at five and fell in love with the woman who was to become his wife at the tender age of 17.

Those are some of the landmark events covered in an account of the Ivorian footballer’s extraordinary life about to be published in cartoon form in France.

Editions are also planned for Britain, where Drogba is still idolised by supporters of his former club Chelsea; Brazil, where he is due to play in the World Cup later this year, and Turkey, where he currently stars for Galatasaray.

Entitled “From Tito to Drogba”, the album traces the 35-year-old’s journey from modest roots in Abidjan to the summit of world football. The Tito in the title refers to his childhood nickname.

2014 World Cup - Jonathan Approves Extra N1.6 Billion for Eagles

Super Eagles 2014 FIFA World Cup preparation and participation has received a massive boost with the approval of N1.6 billion extra budgetary allocation to the team by the Federal Government. Checks revealed on Thursday that President Goodluck Jonathan who is looking forward to a good outing in Brazil from the senior national football team, the Super Eagles, has approved the funds expected to be released any moment from now.

A top government source in Abuja confirmed to newsmen last week that the money is mainly for the preparation and participation of the Super Eagles at the Mundial in the South American nation.

"The Federal Government is committed to the Super Eagles doing well at the World Cup in Brazil that is why President Jonathan has approved N1.6billion for the team. The money is different from whatever the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may have appropriated for the team in their 2014 budget," revealed the reliable source Thursday.

Strange Animals You Probably Didn’t Know Exist

1. Red-lipped Batfish

The red-lipped batfish or Galapagos batfish (Ogcocephalus darwini) is a fish of unusual morphology found around the Galapagos Islands at depths of 30m or more. Red-lipped batfish are closely related to rosy-lipped batfish (Ogcocephalus porrectus), which are found near Cocos Island off the coast of Costa Rica. This fish is mainly known for its bright red lips.
Batfish are not good swimmers; they use their highly-adapted pectoral fins to "walk" on the ocean floor. When the batfish reaches maturity, its dorsal fin becomes a single spine-like projection (thought to function primarily as a lure for prey). Similar to the anglerfish, the Red-Lipped Batfish has a structure on its head known as illicium. This structure is employed for attracting prey...Wikipedia

Found on the Galapagos Islands, this fish is actually a pretty bad swimmer, and uses its pectoral fins to walk on the bottom of the ocean

Pre-schoolers caught ‘having sex’ in school toilets

Something that’s bound to terrify any parent of a pre-schooler: Two New Jersey, US, 5-year-olds were discovered naked in the pre-school bathroom by their teacher, at which point they allegedly admitted they’d been “having sex,” reported the Stir.

The teacher has been suspended, and, although she reported the discovery immediately, parents are horrified that the kids managed to get into this situation. Of primary concern to the school board is the teacher’s lack of supervision of the kids.

The report focussed on teacher Kelly Mascio’s lack of supervision rather than the other blatant question: just how did two five-year-old kids understand what they were attempting (perhaps even managing) to do?

The boy and girl had been part of her class on a day when the class was undergoing State testing, which Mascio had to oversee. In New Jersey, a teacher may not accompany children to the bathroom. She has 16 years of experience as a teacher, and seems to have the support of some in her local education association.

NNPC raises alarm over campaign of calumny

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has decried what it termed as an orchestrated campaign of calumny to tarnish its reputation by some unscrupulous elements.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Dr Omar Ibrahim, Acting Group General Manager, NNPC Group Public Affairs Division.

The statement cited the deliberate misrepresentation of the presentation made by the Nigerian Extractive Industries
Transparency Initiative (NEITI) before the Joint House Committee probing the Berne Declaration Report.

It stated that the report was an example of the well-choreographed negative campaign against the corporation.

“Some of the reports had sensational headlines alleging that NEITI had uncovered fresh unremitted $22.8 billion oil revenue by the NNPC.

“However, the body of the story was totally different from the headlines in terms of message and content,’’ it said.

It said a careful perusal of the original presentation made by the NEITI Executive Secretary; the sensational headlines were mere inventions.

According to the statement, this is a calculated attempt to cast aspersion on the image of the corporation and heat up the polity.

“We wish to state that there is nothing farther from the truth. NNPC has a copy of the presentation made by Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, Executive Secretary of NEITI.

“And nowhere did she allege that NNPC failed to remit $22.8 billion to the Federation Account.

“We are convinced that there is a conspiracy by some groups or individuals to drag down the name of the corporation by whatever means possible,’’ It said.

Private sector lending drops to N16.373tr

Banks lending to the private sector dropped in January, according to the latest data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Lending fell by N136 billion as banks chose to store their deposits with the apex bank, reports ThisDay.

The total amount banks offered as credit to the private sector in January stood at  N16.373 trillion as against the N16.509 trillion they offered at the end of December 2013.

During the same period, banks’ deposits placed with CBN rose to N3.816 trillion from N3.782 trillion the previous month.

Emefiele takes over CBN with a 'safe pair of hands'

The government has lined up a relative unknown to head its central bank after outspoken former governor Lamida Sanusi was suspended, causing shockwaves in the economy and markets to wobble.
Zenith Bank boss Godwin Emefiele had almost no profile outside the banking sector until his name was put forward to succeed Sanusi, who was removed over charges of financial recklessness.
Sanusi had been embroiled in controversy for months after he accused the state Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) of misappropriating $20 billion of public funds.
The former governor, whose term was due to expire in June, was widely applauded by local and foreign economists for overhauling a rotten banking sector and stabilising the currency.
But his views on alleged corruption earned him powerful political enemies. The presidency explained his suspension as the result of financial imprudence at the helm of the apex bank.
Market watchers said Emefiele's nomination came as a surprise, as his name had not previously featured among likely contenders for the top job -- and because he had a contrasting character to Sanusi.
"It's one appointment that was least expected, not because Emefiele is not qualified," Sola Oni, a former spokesman for the Nigeria Stock Exchange, told AFP.
"In fact, he has both the academic and professional pedigree to do the job.
"I think the president decided to appoint someone who will not rock the boat, a dark horse who is not given to controversies and cheap publicity."

The suspected cult members, who are students of the Kwararafa University and the Federal University both situated in Wukari, were arrested early hours  on Friday while carrying out initiation on some new members.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Joseph Kwaji, said the arrest was made possible by the members of the vigilante group who drew the attention of the police to a gunshot in a thick forest opposite the Federal Government College in Wukari.

“On receipt of the information, both the police and the vigilante group swung into action by mobilizing and storming the areas and met a group of cult members, popularly known as Black Axe Confraternity initiating new members while the initiation was going on,” Kwaji said.

“The cultists were singing and shouting” the action which made it easy for the police and the vigilantes to “Identified the location of the cultist that led to their arrest,” he added.

Military claim killing 13 Islamists in camp raid

Troops killed 13 suspected Islamists and arrested 15 others following a raid on their camp after they massacred at least 37 people, a defence spokesman said.
"Two were arrested on (Thursday) while 13 others were arrested today (Friday) while 13 of them died following a raid on their makeshift camp," major general Chris Olukolade told AFP.
He did not give details of the raid.
The camp is located between Borno and Adamawa, he said.
He said that some of the militants who escaped from an earlier raid have also been arrested in and around Maiduguri in Borno State.
Suspected Boko Haram gunmen late Wednesday killed at least 37 people in three separate attacks in Adamawa state, including at a theological college.
The attacks came just a day after Islamist militant fighters were blamed for killing 43 people, most of them students, as they slept at a boarding school in Yobe state.

Lagos residents task FG on fuel shortage

Lagos residents on Saturday urged the Federal Government to address the lingering fuel scarcity in the state, to make life more meaningful for the people.
The residents told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that commuters now wasted a lot of time at bus stops as the fuel crisis takes a turn for the worse.
Fuel queues were long at some filling stations, slowing down traffic on major highways.
An artisan, Yusuf Ismaila, told NAN that he was at a filling station for over two hours and was not been able to buy fuel.
"I do not know why we suffer for basically everything in this country.
"There is no frequent power supply and now that we have a generator to use, getting fuel is also a problem.
"I have been on the queue for over two hours,” he said.
Ismaila advised government to tackle the fuel shortage and to also address the epileptic power supply in the country.
A commercial bus driver, Jare Olawale, said it was unfortunate that Nigerians were experiencing fuel shortage at this point in time.
Olawale said the scarcity had encouraged sharp practices by filling station attendants, who now made brisk business.
He said that a litre of petrol now attracts over N100 at some filling stations against the official price of N97.
"I have been on this queue for about an hour before I was able to buy petrol. This is very bad," Olawale said.
A businessman, Wale Shogeyinbo, said he was not happy with the fuel scarcity as it had disrupted his business.

Blasts rock Maiduguri, many feared dead

Two bombs exploded at a crowded marketplace in Maiduguri on Saturday night, and many are feared killed and wounded, witnesses said.
Bloodied people screaming for help were running out of buildings billowing with smoke, they said. Trader Mallam Samalia said some people were blown apart.
The second blast caught people trying to help those injured in the first explosion in the Bintu-Suga neighborhood of Ngomari suburb, he said.
It appeared to be a car bomb, from a pickup truck loaded with wood, Samalia told The Associated Press by telephone.
"I'm seeing people carrying bloody bodies," he said. "There are parts of bodies littering the street."
Mechanic Yahaya Adamu said he was on his way home when he heard the blasts, two minutes apart. "There's black smoke everywhere now. I'm running home to see if my family is safe."
The police commissioner didn't immediately answer his phone to confirm the reports.
It was the first attack in months in Maiduguri, capital of Borno state and the headquarters of a military force tasked with suppressing the Boko Haram uprising.
More than 300 people were killed in February alone in attacks increasing in frequency and deadliness, all in Yobe and Adamawa.

The Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen Chris Olukolade, has said that 13 insurgents were killed in a military raid on makeshift terrorists camp located between Borno and Adamawa states on Friday.

Olukolade said in an electronic mail on Friday that the special forces also arrested some of the insurgents who escaped the raid in Maiduguri and its environs.

He did not give the exact number of insurgents arrested in the raid.

Olukolade said calm had returned to Shuwa community, which was attacked by the insurgents on Thursday after the confusion and panic in the community when the people mistook the convoy of troops in pursuit of the terrorists for the insurgents.

He said the community members became panicky when they saw the column of military trucks because they mistook them for insurgents on a mission for another attack.

Olukolade said the confusion sparked the rumour that the Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, was attacked while visiting the community.

12 types of psychosis

Psychosis is associated with several medical disorders and conditions. Some of the different types of psychosis include:

- Schizophrenia: a psychiatric disorder characterised by disordered thinking and behaviour, which often includes delusions and hallucinations. Psychotic symptoms are experienced for at least six months, together with significant social or occupational dysfunction.
- Schizophreniform disorder: symptoms are similar to schizophrenia, but persist for between one and six months.
- Schizoaffective disorder: prominent mood symptoms occur with the characteristic symptoms of schizophrenia, but occasionally psychotic symptoms are experienced in the absence of mood symptoms.
- Delusional disorder: involves holding strong, false beliefs (delusions). Hallucinations are usually not present. Apart from the impact of the delusions, psychosocial functioning may not be markedly impaired nor behaviour blatantly strange. However, under some circumstances delusions are sufficiently false to cause problems with day-to-day life.
- Substance-induced psychosis: drug and alcohol use or withdrawal can result in psychotic symptoms. These may disappear once the effects of the substances or withdrawal symptoms wear off. In some cases, psychosis persists after the initial substance-induced psychosis. This is common with stimulant drugs, e.g. methamphetamine (“tik”).

Wenger not giving up hope

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes it is too early to judge whether English sides are in decline in the Champions League despite three of the four Premier League sides losing the first leg of their last 16 ties.
Arsenal lost 2-0 at home to European champions Bayern Munich, after being reduced to 10 men in the first half, and their French coach said no conclusions can be drawn until after the second legs.
"I think you have first to realise that all four (English) teams came out of the group stage. That means the level is there," Wenger said on Thursday.
"After only one game, you cannot judge a general trend."
Ten-man Manchester City lost 2-0 to Barcelona, English champions Manchester United went down by the same score to Olympiakos and Chelsea drew at Galatasaray in the last 16.
